The Da Vinci code by Dan Brown.

The Da Vinci code by Dan Brown.

Hello reader,

This blog is a part of my classroom activity given by Dr. Dilip Barad on the novel “Da vinci code” by Dan Brown.

1. Brown states on his website that his books are not anti-Christian, though he is on a 'constant spiritual journey' himself, and says that his book The Da Vinci Code is simply "an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion and debate" and suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith."

Ans.  This novel is all about chritianity and Jesus personal life and relation with Mary Magdalene ."The Da Vinci Code" are anti-christian because of we find that here the villain Leigh Teabing is atheist. He try to open the secret and he wants freedom, he try to destroy the faith. so this way this novel is Anti - Christian but the other side The text is not anti-christian if we see it from the perspective of Protagonist Robert who is believer because of his childhood experience with God,This novel is quiet interesting and entertaining. The story also promotes the spiritual discussion and debate about Christianity.

( 2 ) (If)You have studied ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown). Which of the narrative/s seem/s to be truthful? Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind?
Ans.  The narrative of 'The Da Vinci Code' is more convincing rather than 'Genesis' and 'The Paradise Lost' Because Contemporary young generation more trust on the novel they does not blindly follow everything what is been said.In Genesis, is a story about existence of Jesus Christ In which we see the story of Adam and Eve which was far away from reality. And in The Paradise Lost by John Milton It is also the imagination of Milton and also same story from Bible but in which he do some change in character .These kind of story not give evidence and Now a day’s generation believes in evidence and this kind of evidence we find in this novel 'The Da Vinci Code in which we see the question on religion doesnt blindly follow everything what is been said. So this novel’s narrative is more convincing then, Milton’s paradise lost or Bible.

( 3 ) What harm has been done to humanity by the biblical narration or that of Milton’s in The Paradise Lose? What sort of damage does narrative like ‘The Vinci Code’ do to humanity?

Ans. We all know that any religion responsible for the damage of humanity or society. because people killed each other on the name of religion or god.
In the Bible and Paradise lost shown fall of mankind because of female.we see that people first attacks on female as unworthy and reason for downfall of human kind. In ‘Da vinci code’ novel also female character Sophie is presented with strength in this novel but when to male are talking and discussing on the history or art at that time she looks like dumb woman. So always people keeping woman away from knowledge and blaming on her.

4 ) Explain Ann Gray’s three propositions on ‘knowability’ with illustrations from the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’.

    a.       1) Identifying what is knowable
    b.      2) identifying and acknowledging the relationship of the    knower and the known
    c.      3) What is the procedure for ‘knowing’?

Here in this novel, ' I don't know, what i don't know ' is apply on Sophie she really don't know that she was a bloodline of Jesus, and she even don't know about the Holy Grail and what is the secret? so idea of 'knowability' a vital role here.

(5) When we do traditional reading of the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’, Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology, Harvard University emerges as protagonist and Sir Leigh Teabing, a British Historian as antagonist. Who will claim the position of protagonist if we do atheist reading of the novel?

Ans
If we looking as atheist reader we find Leigh Teabing as a protagonist. He was in the favor to destroy the grail in order to free people from any kind of fear.

(6) Have you come across any similar book/movie, which tries to deconstruct accepted notions about Hindu religion or culture and by dismantling it, attempts to reconstruct another possible interpretation of truth?

Ans  Yes, In the many movie we can see that this kind of thing like, Oh My God or P.K. which tries to question on the religion  and
In the movie Oh My God we see that hero of the movie. one time
earthquake is come and that is why his antic shop was destroyed He believes that his shop destroyed because of god and that is why he fight against that . who does not believe in God .break the stereo type mindset of the society and question against God also . So here we find deconstruct accepted notions about Hindu religion.

Thank you...
